Journal 7
An excellent example of remediation is Star Wars. Originally published as a novel, the first book in the series was released in 1976 and in 1977 was turned into a movie. The first three novels and movies followed this pattern. However, after the third there was a long break. Then the next three books were released and the next three movies to make a total of six. The Star Wars series has also been remediated into video games and a great deal of merchandise. The level of detail is the most obvious thing that is altered as the medium changes. You cannot provide the great depth of description in a movie that you can in a book. Video games and merchandise provide even less detail and are simply reminders of the things you saw in the movies or read in the books.
