Remediation is transferring of material from one medium to another. A good example is the novel The Kite Runner-a masterpiece about life in Afghanistan-being transferred in to a Hollywood movie. I read The Kite Runner during my junior year of high school in my A.P. U.S. history class-it was one of the most interesting and touching novels I have ever read. When the movie came out my teacher offered extra credit points to those who watched the movie-I was going to see the movie regardless because of the novel. After watching the movie I was somewhat disappointed because I some of the details were missing and it was not how I expected the movie to turn out. This can sometimes be the problem when things are being re-mediated. Especially with Hollywood because they try to do things for a commercial reason and most of the time they omit or add things-this takes away the originality of the work. This is why I sometimes have a problem with works being translated from a written piece to a cinematic piece. The Kite Runner for example is sending a powerful message and that is different from movies like Superman-which is just for entertainment-so we should be careful on how we translate such materials.
