ENG 111-BM: Journal 5

ENG 111-BM: Journal 5: "Midterm Self-Assessment: Consider your progress at this point in the semester. What have you accomplished? What do you still want to improve..."

The midterm conference that we had last week helped me see the progress that I have mad in this class-to be honest I think I have made tremendous progress in the class. When I was enrolled in this class I did not know that it would be all about writing and improving how we write. Tell you the truth I had some background in writing which I am thankful for but I have also accomplished some more writing techniques in this class. Some of the things that I have accomplished are free writing. The journals that we write now and then helps us free write and that is a great tool for writing because if you can get thinks into writing-no matter how crappy it is-then you can go back, edit it, and make it a masterpiece. The other thing that I have accomplished in this class is analyzing rhetoric and going in depth to see the meaning of things rather than looking at the general picture. Today’s society is full of media, ads, etc. telling us what to think so being able to analyze these things helps us become better citizens. Yes there are things that I still want to improve-in life you can never have enough knowledge. I would like to find ways to improve the content of my writing without being redundant and also at the same time engage the reader. I would also like to improve the style and diction of my writing. So overall I am excited about where I stand in the class but hope to achieve more by the end of the semester.
