textspeak
As I read the writer’s memo and the first few paragraphs of ‘OMG Shut Up’ I was really interested in seeing what she had to say because I felt that it had potential to be a really intriguing argument. Unfortunately, I felt that the paper didn’t live up to what it could have been. She did use a good amount of logos, and did refer to an outside source, but for a research paper you would think that there would be much more information pulled from outside sources to contribute to the ethos of the argument. I feel that she began to come up with an insightful argument when she talked about how because we didn’t grow up from the very beginning texting that it probably hasn’t affected us as much as it will in future generations, but ended her argument shortly after. I think that the paper had a great topic but not enough of logos, ethos, pathos or an insightful argument to give it the argument that it could potentially have.

Journal 3-- The Library
I really do like to read. Most of the time, I find my books online because the annoyance of going all the way to a library sucks, when I can get it in my room. So now when I need to get my Kurt Vonnegut on, I can take that 30 second walk I was talking about. Alright, I'll stop bragging.

Journal 2: Me, Pairs Hilton, My Mom
Paris Hilton: Well, I really don't like this advertisement because it doesn't do me any good, I hate soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Well, i like watching cute boys play it, however the guy was really unattractive in this advertisement. Plus, i hate the color red- it's not very flattering on any type of body.
Mom: I thought this advertisement was very well planned out. The colors really had an affect on the message and made it really stand out. Even though I don't play soccer, basketball, or volleyball I like seeing the players have pride in their colors for their team. I also think Adidas did a great job showing this advertisement and having it correlate with the Olympics. It just sets a good tone for everyone to support their team.

Me, Derek Jeter and my mom
Me: At first glance when a person watches a commercial or an advertisement, they don’t look that deep into the commercial. They just respond with “That looks pretty cool” or “That was pretty funny.” They just look at the face value of the commercial and don’t go any deeper into it. But when someone takes the time to analyze and pick apart the commercial, which is when people start noticing how much effort the company put into making the commercial and all the effects that they used. I don’t remember if I ever saw the commercial but if I did happen to see it, then I would have watched it then move on to the next commercial and not cared about all the effects that Adidas used. But after reading the paper, I was able to appreciate all the effects and effort that Adidas put into their commercial.
Derek Jeter: Well first of all, it wasn’t a commercial about baseball so it didn’t appeal to me. Second of all, it was an Adidas commercial which means I could not buy their product anyway considering I am a spokesman for Nike and as we all know, Nike and Adidas are two of the top sporting goods stores in the world. But the commercial did look pretty good, but it would have even looked better if I was in it.
My mom: I have no idea who that guy in the commercial was and I have no reason to buy a Chinese soccer jersey, unless I had a coupon or if there was a major discount. Plus, I don’t pay attention to soccer so again there is no reason for me to buy this product.
Me, Randy Jackson, My Aunt
Randy Jackson: Dog, this commercial was hot! I loved it man, it was like those advertisers showed up with a good commercial. They are setting a high expectation for other commercials for sure. These guys kept it real alright, they know exactly who they are. The author knew exactly how to expalin it too yo! For real this was it dawg.
My Aunt: I loved this commercial! I can't believe people can do that in todays world with the color technique! When I was young we would never be able to do something like that. That is just crazy what everyone can do with computers today. My life would have been a lot easier if we could do stuff like that when I was young.

Me, Snooki and my mom
Snooki- If an ad doesn’t have anything about hot clothes or me in it I normally ignore it. I don’t really get why this ad is important. Why would someone from the U.S. care about this. I can’t read Chinese so it’s good that it’s translated but it sounds like that little green guy talking? I don’t get it.
My mom: I think this advertisement looks cool but I wouldn’t buy anything from Adidas. This ad would catch my eye but I’m not an active person and I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from Adidas except maybe shoes. This ad would probably work on someone more active or someone supporting the Chinese Olympics.

Me, Steve Carell, and My Mom
ME: Immediately after reading the essay, I looked up the advertisement. The visual aspect of the ad did pull me in as the author was talking about, and he did describe the image well. The essay was very well thought out and informative – but I think a since of passion and excitement was missing. I found it hard to keep concentrated on his ideas, and the style of writing he had didn’t necessarily make me want to keep reading it.
STEVE CARELL: First of all, I’m highly honored that there was this highly intellectual article about me being in an advertisement! I’m not a soccer player or Chinese, but they still wanted me in that ad! See what good looks and athletic skills can bring you?! Thanks to the people that can make anything happen on computers they even changed my facial features just enough so that I have more of a Chinese look to me! Man do I look good as an Asian!
MY MOM: I remember seeing that ad all over the place and thinking that it was a catchy one – but really? I don’t think anyone needed to spend that much time on writing an essaying analyzing it. Poor guy – life’s too short!

I am a writer
Not a writer
I think more of myself as a thinker more than anything else. When you write you attempt to put down your emotions and try to describe your endeavors or ideas. However, that may not be enough for me. When I write, I have thousands of ideas running through my head, but I can’t always seem to get the right point across. No matter how many times I go through it or how many times I rewrite, it just seems to never get the full depiction of what I really mean. This is why I would rather try to show or display my emotions or ideas in other forms such as conversations or pictures. I feel that a picture can say a thousand words, but my paper cannot. I am not a writer, but I am a thinker.
