ENG 111-BM: Journal 2

ENG 111-BM: Journal 2: Me, David Beckham, and my grandfather.
Me: when I looked at the commercial, I immediately knew it was an Adidas commercial because of the logo, also I know that the "impossible is nothing" slogan is associated with Adidas. Since last year's Dorritos commercial during the super bowl-where a stereotype on African Americans caused some hysteria-I have noticed that when companies make commercials they do not just sell their products, they also embed messages in them. with that in mind I always analyze commercials deeply. This commercial obviously has an uplifting message. Adidas is showing a famous Chinese player in his nations symbolic colors being lifted by the whole country-a sign of support. Adidas is telling the Chinese nation that if they all buy Adidas gear and support their team then "impossible is nothing."
David Beckham: four years from now that will be me carried by all of Great Britain but instead of heading the ball, I would love a portrait of me bending the ball like I usually do. Man I cannot wait to collect that huge check from Adidas. I feel sorry for them though because they will not sell as much Adidas gear as they will in China-China is just a bigger market than Britain.
Grandfather: son that picture is well done. Do you know the football player they are showing? He must be the most popular football player in the world, definitely in China. Look at how all these people are lifting him up, he must be a good player.
